Holperin retains seat in recall

Aug. 17, 2011 | 0 comments

State Sen. Jim Holperin (D-Conover) retained his seat in Tuesday's recall election against Republican challenger Kim Simac. With 95% of votes counted, Holperin had garnered 29,750 votes to Simac's 24,069, or a 55-45% margin. In Lincoln County, voters chose Holperin 5,994 votes to 3,919 for Simac.

The 12th District includes the counties of Florence, Forest, Langlade, Lincoln, Marathon, Menominee, Oconto, Oneida, Shawano and Vilas.

While voters didn’t have to show their IDs in this election, they were required to sign their names on the voter’s book prior to being given a ballot. Showing an ID will be manadatory starting in the Spring election.
