Benefit for John Roberts

On March 15 of this year, John Roberts of Merrill was diagnosed with the terminal brain cancer known as glioblastoma. To help offset the financial strain a diagnosis of this magnitude brings, friends and colleagues are planning a benefit in his honor to help relieve some of this burden. The benefit will be held at The Arena, 1212 S. Center Ave. in Merrill, on June 11 from 2 p.m.-2 a.m. with all proceeds going directly to the family. The benefit will be a fun filled day of activities with DJ services provided by Steve Resnick and the musical sounds of Irene Keenan to round out the evening. Food, soda, and beer will be available while supplies last beginning at 2 p.m. for $10 per person ages 12 and up. Thanks to the generous donations from several Merrill, Tomahawk, and Wausau businesses this is sure to be an extraordinary event. Donations are still being accepted and organizers continue to welcome new members to the army of volunteers. An account has been set up at Park City Credit Union under John Roberts to which any cash donations can be directed. All proceeds will help offset the mounting medical costs and travel expenses as most of John’s treatments require daily commutes to Marshfield or Weston.
