A resident in the 3000 block of County Rd G reported a strong odor of natural gas near their residence just before 6 p.m. When firefighters arrived they also encountered a heavy gas smell. Firefighters found a malfunctioning regulator on a bulk LP tank was causing the odor. They shut off the tank and advised the homeowner to contact a repairman.

The investigating deputy noted Kromrie will be cited as a result of the crash.

Just after 10 a.m. a caller reported a possible fire at a cabin on Swamp Rd. Firefighters from Merrill responded and requested assistance from the Pine River Fire Department. Minutes later a deputy arrived on the scene and found that a small fire was already extinguished. The source of the fire may have been a loose connection on a new LP tank according to the deputy's report.

Two people were taken into custody after deputies and EMS responded to an ambulance call in the Town of Pine River Saturday evening. Merrill EMS along with Pine River First Responders were sent to County Rd W north of County Rd P after a cell 911 caller reported an unconscious man in a vehicle at 5 p.m. A man and woman riding in the vehicle told deputies that 36 year old Christopher J. Harter of Wausau had taken heroine while riding in the vehicle and became unconscious. Harter was transported to Ministry Good Samaritan Health Center where he was treated and then arrested on two outstanding warrants through Marathon County; one for failing to pay child support and a felony warrant for escape. A passenger in the vehicle, 28 year old Liza M. Carlson-Potvine was arrested on a probation hold after she admitted using heroin. Deputies collected evidence at the scene and impounded the vehicle for further investigation.

A 33 year old Merrill man was brought to the Lincoln County Jail while another Merrill man was transported by EMS and may face charges after deputies and EMS responded to a disturbance in the Town of Corning early Sunday morning. A cell 911 call reported the incident on Farmingdale Rd at 12:35 a.m. When deputies arrived they found the 56 year old victim injured. He was transported by Merrill EMS to Ministry Good Samaritan Health Center. Deputies reports indicate information on the incident was scarce due to alcohol being involved. Joshua J.
