Lincoln County Sheriff's reports

Severe weather caused problems in the Tomahawk area last Wednesday evening. Two reports of funnel clouds were reported to the Sheriff's Office after a storm came through the area just after 6 p.m. The first report of damage was on Tannery Rd. in the Town of Bradley when a caller reported numerous trees covering the roadway. A short time later a motorist reported his car was struck and damaged by a tree on County Rd. A near Villa Rd. Tomahawk Firefighters responded to Kablitz Rd. around 6:30 p.m. when a tree came down across a power line and caused a small fire. During the height of the storm a Tomahawk Police Officer reported a funnel cloud on County Rd. A near US Hwy 51 while a second caller to 911 reported a funnel cloud above Sara Park.

Two Rhinelander men are in the Lincoln County Jail after a traffic stop led to a drug arrest. A deputy stopped a vehicle being driven by 30 year old Theodore S. Gans on State Rd. 17 north of County R.d G just after midnight Sunday. During the stop deputies located marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Gans was brought to the Lincoln County Jail where he was charged with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. His passenger, 20 year old Jacob G. Larson was arrested on charges of possession of marijuana and probation violation.

Six people reported striking deer this past week, down from previous weeks. On Thursday a bear was struck on US Hwy 51 near Nelson Rd. at Irma. The person who struck the bear did not report it but it was claimed by a Merrill man.
