The Pine River Fire Department was called out Tuesday afternoon after a power line became tangled in a tree on County Rd P. Firefighters along with a deputy responded to County Rd P just west of Cain Creek Rd after a cell phone caller reported the fire just after noon. Firefighters and a WPS worker were able to remove the tree and its branches before firefighters soaked the area down with water.

A 42 year old Merrill woman was injured after a one vehicle crash Tuesday evening in the Town of Tomahawk. Deputies along with Tomahawk EMS and the Tomahawk Fire Department responded to State Rd 86 near Island View Drive after a 911 caller reported a vehicle had left the roadway and sheared off a power pole. Susan E. Strombom told the investigating deputy that she was traveling east when she swerved to miss a deer, her vehicle went off the road on the south side of the road, before going off on the north side where the vehicle rolled and struck the power pole. Strombom was transported to Ministry Sacred Heart Hospital where she was treated and released.

Deputies are investigating and are seeking the public's help after a burglary was reported at a Town of Merrill establishment early Wednesday morning. An employee of Victory Lane reported the burglary when she arrived at the establishment. Deputies determined the suspects stole cash from the cash registers before making their getaway. Several pieces of evidence are being examined by detectives. If you have any information or saw any suspicious activity around the building after 4 a.m. Wednesday morning you are asked to call the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office at 715-536-6272, or call Crime Stoppers of Lincoln County at 715-536-3726. Callers to Crime Stoppers can remain anonymous and may qualify for a cash reward.

An 83 year old Tomahawk man was arrested Wednesday afternoon after a deputy responded to County Rd A in the Town of Bradley for a report of a violation of a restraining order. The reporting party told the investigating deputy that Robert E. Olsen yelled a vulgarity at her in violation of a restraining order issued in Lincoln County Court. Olsen was brought to the Lincoln County Jail where he was charged with violating the order. He was held overnight for a bond hearing where he was released Thursday after posting a cash bond set by a court commissioner.

Tomahawk Firefighters and a deputy responded Thursday just before noon after a power line was reported to be caught up in a tree causing sparking. A caller reported the incident on Stelling Rd in the Town of Bradley. Firefighters stood by for over an hour until WPS was able to correct the problem.

A 55 year old Medford man was injured and cited after a motorcycle crash Friday evening in the Town of Russell. Deputies along with Russell Fire Department, Russell First Responders and Merrill Ambulance all responded to the area of 2nd Ave and State Rd 17 after a cell 911 caller reported a motorcycle crash at 7:03 p.m. When the Town of Russell Fire Department arrived on the scene they saw a male subject who appeared injured flee into the woods. About 45 minutes later a Russell Firefighter saw a man come out of the woods and get into a pickup truck which stopped moments later at a Gleason tavern. Deputies and EMS checked Michael A. Brandner before he was transported to Ministry Good Samaritan Health Center for treatment. He was cited for a first offense of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated before being released to a responsible party.

A 19 year old Merrill man was injured after an off road motorcycle crash Friday night in the Town of Scott. Deputies and EMS responded to an address in the 6000 block of State Rd 64 and 107 at 7:10 p.m. after a cell call reported the crash. According to the deputies report Ryan J. Weismann was traveling in a field when he lost control of his motorbike and crashed. He was transported by Merrill EMS to Ministry Good Samaritan Health Center where he was treated and released.

A 51 year old Wausau man was taken into custody Friday evening after a traffic stop in the Town of Bradley. A deputy stopped a pickup truck being driven by Mark F. Schroeder on US Hwy 8 near US Hwy 51 after he witnessed it cross the centerline several times. Schroeder was asked to perform field sobriety tests and as a result was taken into custody on a first offense of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated. He was later released to a responsible party.

A 56 year old Kronenwetter man was injured after a motorcycle crash Saturday afternoon in the Town of Rock Falls north of Merrill. Dale H. Hubert was traveling north on State Rd 107 near Eggert Drive when his 1985 Honda motorcycle went off onto the shoulder of the roadway, Hubert was unable to bring the cycle back onto the pavement before he struck a culvert throwing Hubert from the bike. Hubert was transported from the scene of the crash by Merrill EMS to a landing zone that was established by deputies near the intersection of State Rd 107 and County Rd E. From there Spirit II flew Hubert to Aspirus Wausau Hospital where he is in fair condition as of Sunday. Hubert was wearing a helmet and alcohol was not a factor.

An 18 year old Merrill man was arrested Saturday evening on a criminal charge after deputies responded to a complaint in the City of Merrill. Merrill Police Officers were busy with calls so assistance was requested after a 911 caller reported a man walking down E. 6th Street near Nast Street smashing multiple glass bottles in the roadway. When deputies arrived they found Eric R. Stevenson who admitted smashing the bottles as he walked with four juveniles. Stevenson was taken into custody on a disorderly conduct charge; he was brought to the Lincoln County Jail where he was also held on a probation violation charge.

A 38 year old Stevens Point man was taken into custody early Sunday morning after a deputy investigated a report of a motorcycle lying on the side of the roadway in the Town of Bradley. Just before 4 a.m. a cell caller reported a motorcycle down on the side of the road with the man alongside of it. When a deputy found the bike on State Rd 86 near County Rd E Marcus J. Bosworth told the deputy he had swerved to miss a deer and crashed his 2006 Harley Davidson sometime earlier but he did not know when that was. Bosworth had injuries from the crash but refused an ambulance. He was brought to Ministry Sacred Heart Hospital where he was later cited for a first offense of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated and released to a responsible party. The Town of Corning Fire Department along with the DNR Ranger and a deputy responded to a wild land fire Sunday afternoon in the Town of Corning. At 3:45 p.m. callers reported the fire on County Rd M at Elm Grove Rd. Firefighters found an acre of a field burning when they arrived on the scene. Firefighters remained on the scene for nearly three hours. The cause of the fire may be the remains of a controlled burn that was not fully extinguished. The DNR is investigating the cause. The number of car deer crashes is still higher than previous weeks with 14 being reported. Also several other crashes involving animals were reported this past week. On Monday a bus belonging to Lincoln Industries struck a cow on County Rd M west of State Rd 64. No injuries were reported but the cow had to be put down. On Friday evening a Merrill woman struck a bear on County Rd K south of Joe Snow Rd in the Town of Scott, the bear ran off and moderate damage resulted. A Tomahawk man reported striking a bear on US Hwy 51 at County Rd J in the Town of Birch, again the bear ran off and only minor damage was reported.
