Tomahawk Firefighters along with a deputy responded to a reported grass fire Monday evening in the Town of Bradley. Just after 5 p.m., a cell 911 call reported the incident on Bay Mill Rd. The Wisconsin DNR also responded to the scene.

A caller on Forest Drive reported the fire just after 5 p.m., which was spreading towards State Rd 107. The investigation was turned over to the DNR.
Slippery roads caused problems on Friday morning. The first incident was reported at 6:30 a.m. when a vehicle lost control after crossing the Wisconsin River bridge and crashing on US Hwy 51 near County Rd Q in the Town of Scott. Just over an hour later, a second vehicle spun out near the bridge and crashed near the same location as rain started to freeze on the highway. Over the next few hours as Highway Department crews spread salt on the roadway to clear the ice, deputies responded to five crashes and five vehicles that had slid off the road into the ditch. No injuries were reported in any of the crashes, but the Town of Russell Fire Department stood by after a woman lost control and rolled her car and struck a power pole in the Town of Schley. Neither the 27 year old Deerbrook woman nor her daughter were injured in the crash but were briefly trapped inside of the vehicle after wires came down upon the car.
Four Merrill residents were cited on Saturday morning after and off-duty deputy checked on a suspicious vehicle. The deputy was at a gas station in the Town of Scott just before 11 a.m., when he noticed an occupant of the car gassing up next to him was drinking a can of beer. Two on-duty deputies soon arrived and the occupants of the vehicle were interviewed. A 19 year old Merrill woman and a 15 year old Merrill girl were both cited for underage drinking, a 23 year old Merrill man was cited for having an open intoxicant in a motor vehicle and the driver, a 19 year old Merrill man, was taken into custody for violating the state’s absolute sobriety law while driving with a minor passenger. The underage passenger was released to a parent while the 19 year old driver was brought to the Lincoln County Jail before being released to a responsible party.
A 37 year old Merrill woman was arrested Saturday afternoon on a warrant charge after a deputy stopped a vehicle on State Rd 64 in the Town of Pine River for a traffic violation. A check on the passenger, Shannon Lee Clausen, showed a warrant through the Wood County Sheriff for contempt of court. Clausen was brought to the Lincoln County Jail where she was able to post bond and be released.
A 31 year old Tomahawk man was arrested early Sunday morning after deputies investigated a disturbance call in the Town of Wilson. Deputies responded to an establishment on US Hwy 8 just at 12:44 a.m. after a 911 call reported the incident. Christopher R. Huntington was brought to the Lincoln County Jail on charges of disorderly conduct and battery. He was later released after posting cash bond.
A 76 year old Tomahawk man was injured after a brush fire broke out Sunday afternoon in the Town of Somo north and west of Tomahawk. A DNR warden happened upon the fire on County Rd T south of US Hwy 8 and requested the DNR respond to extinguish the fire. When the warden investigated, he found the victim lying in the woods. According to the deputy who responded, they think the man was burning garbage when the fire got away from him and started the brush fire. Tomahawk firefighters assisted Tomahawk EMS in closing County Rd T for the MedEVac Helicopter to land on the scene and remove the man from the scene. The man is in critical condition at Aspirus Wausau Hospital, although it is thought his condition may be medical and not related to the fire.
Six people reported striking deer this past week, down from lasts weeks number. The first confirmed car bear crash was reported as well. On Saturday morning a Merrill man reported striking the animal on State Rd 64 east of County Rd W in the Town of Pine River. The bear had left on its own power before the deputy arrived.
