Norman S. Duginski Norman S. Duginski, 72, Merrill, passed away Monday, March 8, 2010, at Pine Crest Nursing Home, under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care & Hospice. Norman was born on April 11, 1937, in Merrill, to the late Stanley and Harriet (McKinnon) Duginski. He married Lila Taylor in Merrill on Aug. 31, 1958. Norman worked for GTE for 35 years as a telephone installer/repairman. He enjoyed baseball, hunting, and horseshoes. He especially enjoyed playing cards with family and friends. He was a member of St. Francis Church, a bowling league, Golden ‘M’ Club and a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus and 4th degree color guard. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. Survivors include his wife Lila, Merrill; children, Dick (Arlene), Merrill, Joe (Lori), Colby, and Pat, Tomahawk; grandchildren, Daniel, Jamie, Amanda, Jennifer (Tim) Krueger, Matthew, Mollie and Joseph; great grandchildren, Dameon, and Kaylee; brother Raymond (Doris), DeRitter, LA, and sister Ruth (Elroy) Kleinschmidt, Belgium, WI. He was preceded in death by his parents and infant brother, Richard. Services will be held Saturday, March 13, at 11 a.m. at St. Francis Church. Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, March 12, at Waid Funeral Home, and again Saturday 10-11 a.m. at the church. A 4th degree Knights of Columbus service will be held Friday at the funeral home at 7 p.m. The Rev. Joseph Kleinheinz will officiate. David J. Klug
David J. Klug, age 69, of Oshkosh, passed away peacefully on Saturday evening, February 27, 2010 at the Parkview Health Care Center. He was born on August 8, 1940 in Merrill, Wisconsin a son of the late Robert J.B. and Dorothy E. (Sell) Klug. He married Elizabeth "Beth" H. Petit on July 26, 1980 in Appleton, Wisconsin. David recieved his Teaching Degree from Lincoln County Teachers College and the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. In 1967 he started teaching at Smith Elementary School and taught at many Middle Schools in Oshkosh after moving here in 1986. In High School he played baseball, hockey, football, basketball, played city baseball for the Merrill Giants. Played fast pitch softball and slow pitch softball along with being the mascot for the Merrill Foxes Football Team. He was an avid Packer fan, enjoyed the Brewers and Bucks, deer hunting, fishing, camping and playing cards. It was David's love of sports that allowed him to coach freshman baseball at both West and North and boys basketball and wrestling at the Middle Schools. He also coached girls volleyball for the 8th grade. He taught math, science, english and social studies during his career teaching.
He is survived by his wife Elizabeth "Beth", of 30 years; children, Kyle and Katie, both of Oshkosh; two brothers, Robert "Bob" (Kay) Klug and Thomas (Terry) Klug, both of Merrill; three sisters, Barbara (Dennis) Hintze of Merrill, Patricia "Pat" (Richard) Bolder of Gleason and Jean (Daniel) Meyer of Merrill. He is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many very dear friends. He was preceded in death by a sister, Judy Michalski-Thrash.
Funeral services for David will be held on Thursday, March 4, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 370 Bowen Street in Oshkosh. The Reverend Marvin J. Ahlborn will officiate. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. A time of visitation and support will be held for the Klug family on Wednesday evening at the Poklasny Funeral Home, 870 W. South Park Ave. from 4 until 7 p.m. and also again at the church on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of floral expressions, a number of memorial funds will be established in David's name.

Vera M. Vonderheid, age 85, of Merrill, died peacefully surrounded by her family, at Walnut Grove Assisted Living, Merrill, on Saturday, February 27, 2010.
Vera was born September 23, 1924, in Merrill, daughter of the late John and Laura (Engel) Plautz. She married Harold Vonderheid on March 31, 1946. He died in 1999.

Infant Alex Matthew Martin
Alex Matthew Martin, age 3 months and 25 days, passed away Saturday, March 6, 2010, at his home in the town of Schley, Lincoln County, surrounded by his family. He died from complications due to Spinal Muscular Atrophy – Type 1. Alex was born November 9, 2009 in Gleason to Ronald and Dorcas (Martin) Martin.
Alex was a very friendly baby and generous with his smiles. He touched many lives and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Margaret M. Oestreich
Margaret M. Oestreich, age 86, of Merrill, passed away Thursday, March 4, 2010 at her residence. She was born in Merrill on May 28, 1923, the daughter of the late Ed and Lydia Margaret (Donner) Trantow. Margaret married Otto Oestreich on September 11, 1948 in Merrill. He preceded her in death on April 8, 2005.
She was a 1942 graduate of Merrill Senior High school and a 1947 graduate of Bellin Memorial School of Nursing in Green Bay. Prior to marriage, Margaret was employed as an RN at the Marshfield Clinic in Marshfield. She later resumed her nursing career at Holy Cross Hospital in Merrill and worked several years with the Lincoln County Visiting Nurses Agency. Margaret was a member of Christ United Methodist Church where she was active in the Ruth Circle. She was a life member of the Copper Dells Homemakers Club and was very active in the Red Hatters. Margaret was a volunteer for the Merrill Food Pantry. She was an avid needle worker and did crocheter for the residents at Pine Crest Nursing Home. Margaret enjoyed spending time doing genealogy research on her family tree. Along with her husband Otto, she shared the responsibilities of farming, logging and many other business ventures. In retirement, they enjoyed extensive traveling to British Columbia, Alaska, Germany and Hawaii along with several cruises.
She is survived by 2 daughters: Lois Ramias and Janice Sieger, both of St. Paul, MN. 3 sons: Robert (Karen), Donald (Paula) and Lylas (Kathryn) all of Merrill. 12 grandchildren; Renae(Chad) Utech, Ross Oestreich, Tabitha(Bob) Edson, Robbie Oestreich, Jason Ramias, Christopher Ramias, Molly Ramias, Richard(Melissa) Oestreich, Sheila(Jordan) Schult, Jackie Oestreich, Emily Oestreich, Blake Oestreich and 2 great – grandchildren. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, her husband , Otto, 2 sons; James (twin to Janice) and Baby Edward, 2 sisters; Arcilla and Patricia and 1 brother; Norman.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM, Wednesday, March 10, 2010, at Christ United Methodist Church. The Rev. Don Entenman will officiate. Burial will be in Snow Hill Cemetery. Paul A. Schulz
Paul A. Schulz, 57, died on Feb. 26, 2010, at Fletcher Allen Hospital in Burlington, VT, with his loving wife, Linda, and family members by his side.
Paul was born in Phillips on Nov. 18, 1952, the son of Pastor and Mrs. Donald C. Schulz. He graduated from Merrill High School and attended Valparaiso University in Indiana, where he met his wife Linda Frazer.
Paul and Linda moved to East Wallingford in 1983 where he was a carpenter by trade. His hobbies included gardening, beekeeping, raising chickens, and researching, preserving, and sharing historical photographs. Paul was a member of the East Wallingford Volunteer Fire Department and was always ready to help others in need.
Paul is survived by his wife of 31 years, his parents (Merrill), his sisters Christine Michael (Utica, MI), Becky Schulz (Wausau), and Donna Schulz (Madison), and a brother Mark (Michele) Schulz (Hortonville), as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family members. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Christian and Hilda Schulz and Arthur and Ruth Mertig (Glidden), and a sister, Linda.

Gordon Dexter Gross
Gordon “Bucky” Dexter Gross, age 82, of Gleason, WI and San Benito, TX passed away on February 27, 2010 from a long hard fight with cancer. Gordon was born to Oswald and Frances Gross on December 12, 1927 who preceded him in death along with his two sisters Lois Neuman of Racine and Grace Bruette of Texas. Gordon was born and raised in the Gleason area. He married Gladys Bruns on March 24th, 1951 in Merrill Presbyterian Church. He was employed at Ward Paper Co. in Merrill for 34 years. He also owned and operated White Birch Mobile Home Park from 1961-1980. He was an avid deer hunter who enjoyed hunting and in his later years hunted with a crossbow. Nothing got past him while hunting. He loved the woods, bears, birds, fishing, campfires, chocolate and his little buddy – a red squirrel. His most prized possession though was his little dog Gigi who provided him with unconditional love. He did numerous jobs of bulldozing, septic tank cleaning and logging. He was truly an outdoor person. Gordon loved to travel and camp. His love for Alaska and Canada fishing took him back there numerous times often spending the entire summer. He had fond memories of traveling through most of the US and international travels including Africa, Spain, Jamaica, Canada, Mexico, and Portugal. Upon retiring, he moved to San Benito, Tx for the winter months and came back to the Gleason area for the summer months. He did many hours of volunteer work in Texas at the Texas State Mental Health Care Center and the Texas Abuse Victim Center. He was enjoyed by many for his beautiful singing voice and his great wit. Survivors include his wife Gladys, daughter Susan (Phillip) Herbig of Merrill and San Benito and a son Calvin (Debra) Gross of Green Bay and Gleason. He has enjoyed four grandchildren, one step granddaughter, seven great grandchildren and one step great grandson. A memorial service will be held at Riverside Presbyterian Church at a later date and burial will be at the Town of Russell Cemetery in Gleason. The Waid Funeral Home assisted the family. William "Willie" A. Schult
William "Willie" A. Schult, 55, Marathon, died Tuesday, February 23, 2010 due to an automobile accident.
He was born November 11, 1954 in Wausau, son of the late William C. and Marie (Lodholz) Schult. On October 1, 1983 he married Bonnie Heinsohn in Merrill. She survives.
Willie was a dairy farmer who also did logging on his land. Some of his hobbies included playing church league softball and dart ball. Willie enjoyed polka dancing and loved fruit cake. He was past president of the Marathon County Farm Bureau, on the zoning committee for the town of Stettin and on the finance committee for Zion Ev. Lutheran Church.
Survivors include his wife, Bonnie, Marathon; one son, Timothy (Teri) Schult, Wausau; one daughter, Catherine "Cathie" Schult, Ripon; one uncle, Arden (Aladine) Lodholz, Wausau; one aunt, Lydia (Harold) Gierach, Merrill, and many other relatives and friends.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Marian.
Funeral services will be Noon Saturday, February 27, 2010 at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, 2214 State Hwy 107, Marathon. The Rev. Terry Reich will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call Friday from 5 – 8 p.m. and again on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of services all at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church. There will be a 7:30 prayer service Friday evening at the church.

Glenn W. Mootz
Glenn W. Mootz, Age 86 of Merrill, died Wednesday, February 10, 2010 at Aspirus Hospital in Wausau.
Glenn was born November 25, 1923 in Hamburg the son of Louis and Augusta (Bartelt) Mootz. Glenn and Meta (Sauer) were united in marriage June 12, 1943 in Hamburg.
Glenn farmed on the family farm for many years, and he also was a quarry worker, he worked for the Foto News and the Boys School, where he enjoyed serving as a foster grandfather for 15 years. Glenn enjoyed dart ball, cards, camping, fishing, and woodworking. Glenn liked to collect toy cars, he also enjoyed playing the accordion and harmonica. Glenn loved to tell a good joke and he was an excellent story teller. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where he belonged to the men’s club.

Arlowyn J. Krueger
Arlowyn J. "A.J." Krueger, 73, of Merrill, died Tuesday, Feb. 9, 2010, at Pine Crest Nursing Home in Merrill.
A.J. was born Nov. 6, 1936, in Wausau, daughter of the late Louis and Amanda (Miller) Sawyer. She graduated from Wausau’s Newman High School. She married Robert E. Krueger on April 29, 1978, in the Town of Berlin. He survives.
A.J. began working for her parents in the family restaurant in Wausau, formerly known as "The Diner". She then co-owned and operated the former "Lloyd & A.J.’s Bar", located on River Street in Merrill. She then went to work for Wire Products Manufacturing, Inc. in Merrill, and retired after 24 years of employment. A.J. was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Merrill. She enjoyed cooking, casino trips, playing cards, and going fishing.
Survivors include her husband, Robert E. Krueger, Merrill; sons, Bill (Sarah) Honey, Wausau, and Scott (Karrie Koss) Honey, Merrill; granddaughter, Gillian Honey, Wausau; brother, Randy (Julie) Sawyer, Wausau; and her step mother in law, Hilma Sawyer, Wausau.

Joan M. Tamboli
Joan M. (Brannan) Tamboli passed away suddenly on Feb. 6, 2010 with her family by her side at the age of 45.
She was the loving wife and soul mate of Bryan; caring and devoted mom of Kyle and Kevin; beloved daughter of Jim and Sandy Brannan; wonderful sister of Jimmy (Jo) Brannan, Dan (Stacey) Brannan and Jane Brannan Tamboli; sister-in-law of Mike Tamboli; and cherished daughter-in-law of Jerome Tamboli and Donna Tamboli. Joan is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, co-workers and many friends.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, Feb. 11, at St. Boniface Catholic Church, W204 N11940 Goldendale Rd., Germantown, from 3 p.m. until time of Memorial Mass at 6 p.m.
Joan was an avid volunteer for Boy Scouts of America (Potawatomi District); her highest volunteer position was the Advancement Chair Eagle Scout Board of Review. She also volunteered for numerous positions at St. Boniface Catholic Church, including teaching religious education and food drives. Joan served in the U.S. Air Force Reserves to include a combat tour in Afghanistan. In lieu of flowers, memorials to begin a college fund for her sons, Kyle and Kevin, are greatly appreciated.

Dewey Leroy Lannigan, 75, of Merrill, passed away Friday, February 5, 2010, at Pinecrest Nursing Home, surrounded by his family.
Dewey was born in Fifield, WI on May 5, 1934 to the late Dewey and Marjorie (Giblin) Lannigan. He married Donna (Ernst) February 26, 1955 in Park Falls, WI.
Dewey owned and operated his own logging/trucking company for many years. He was also an avid carpenter, licensed machinist and fishing guide in his earlier years. Dewey was a jack of all trades. He enjoyed the outdoors including fishing, hunting, camping and trips out west. His hobbies include building bird houses, making wood canes,bingo, puzzles, collecting rocks and going to casinos. He also loved dancing to country music and polkas. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

Clifford A. Sabatke
Clifford A. Sabatke, 84, of Merrill, passed away Thursday, February 4, 2010, under the care of Ministry Home Care Hospice.
Cliff was born in Merrill on February 22, 1925 to the late Leslie and Ella (Jaeger) Sabatke Sr. He married Shirley Porath on September 26, 1953 at Zion Lutheran Church in Merrill.
While Clifford was a young man, he worked on the family farm. He also worked as a logger in Michigan. He served in the Army from 1950 – 1953. Cliff worked at Anson & Gilkey for 32 years as a window and door manufacturer. He then worked at Semco for 8 years, also manufacturing windows and doors. Cliff was an Elder at Trinity Lutheran Church where he was a member for over 50 years. He served as Chaplain for the District and the Local VFW Post 1638 where he was a VFW Honor Guard Member for over 20 years. In his spare time, Cliff enjoyed carpentry, building barns for his grandchildren, spending time at his camper up north, gardening, and playing dart ball. He was also an avid fan of the Packers and Brewers. Cliff was very involved with the VFW Post 1638 and the local Eagles Club and was also a member of the Disabled Veterans of America.
Survivors include his wife: Shirley; 3 children: Keith (Sue Ann) Sabatke, Wausau, Yvonne (Pat) Woller, Merrill, and LuAnn (Steve) Steger, Gleason; 10 grandchildren: Shawn (Sarah) Sabatke, Jason (Jammie) Woller, Nicole (Pete Berna) Woller, Jacob (Amanda) Sabatke, Michele Steger, Amy Woller, Sara Steger, Rebecca Liss, Nicole(Bill) Kelch, T.J. (Brenda) Liss; 19 great grandchildren, 2 sisters: Phyllis Schlueter and Mary Ann (Don) Forester; 3 brothers: LaVern (Diane Huston) Sabatke, Les (Pearl) Sabatke Jr., Larry (Lois) Sabatke, brother-in-law: Lylas Berndt; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, infant son: Dwight Sabatke; sister: Bernice Berndt; brother: Jack Sabatke and brother-in-law: Ray Schlueter.
Services will be held Monday, February 8, 2010 at 10:30 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church. The Rev. Brian Stolarczyk will officiate. Friends may call Sunday, February 7 from 4-8 PM at Waid Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery with Military Honors conducted by Local VFW Post 1638. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, Trinity Church Radio Ministry or the Local VFW Post 1638. Kim Wayne Stickler
Kim Wayne Stickler, 43, Wausau, was invited to leave his home and board the bus to heaven Tuesday, Feb. 9, 2010.
Kim served in the U.S. Army. He worked various occupations throughout his life; most recently he was employed at Trig's in Wausau.
Survivors include his mother, Paula "Sis" Stickler, Merrill; father, Gary "Rusty" (Patti) Stickler, Pine River; brothers, Jason (Holly Hassel) Homerding, Wausau; Michael Stickler, Kenosha; Christopher Stickler, Kenosha; sisters, Stephanie Branden, Salem; Tricia (Roger) Rybacki, Seymour; best friend, Sarah Davies, Wausau; aunts and uncles Diane Pichelman, Merrill; Dale Heinz, Merrill; Burl "Stub"(Gail) Scantlin, Merrill; Robbin (Shirley) Pichelman, Merrill; nieces and nephews; a slew of cousins and extended family; and a plethora of friends made over the years.
A good guy and great friend, Kim was truly one of a kind. He enjoyed many of life's simple pleasures, such as a smoke (or two) along with a good cup of coffee(or two) either by himself or hanging out with friends. A fan of 80's and other music, he was seldom without his headphones in tow. He also had a hearty sense of humor, always able to find something to have a laugh about. He was a true friend of animals, with a particular fondness toward birds. In recent years, he attended the Community Corner Clubhouse in Wausau, where many good friends and memories were made. He will be dearly missed by all who've known him.
Memorial services will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 20, 2010 at the Universalist Unitarian Church, 504 Grant Street, Wausau. The Rev. Paul Beckel will officiate.

Gordon A. Baumann
Gordon "Gordy" A. Baumann, 52, town of Texas, died Wednesday, February 10, 2010 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born November 27, 1957 in Wausau, the son of Wilbur and Marilyn (Kittel) Baumann of Merrill. On June 2, 1979, he married Cheryl Asmundsen in Wausau.
Gordy graduated from Wausau East High School in 1976 and started working for Ghidorzi Construction Company soon after. He was a superintendent with the company at the time of his death. In his free time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, four-wheeling and playing pool and softball on various local leagues. He could often be found tinkering in his garage or working in his garden. Gordy loved the outdoors and spent a lot of time with his family and friends in Ontonagon, Michigan and at Willow Wood Resort in Tomahawk.
Besides his parents, survivors include his four children, Nicholas (Michelle) Baumann, Kronenwetter, Jessica (Eric) Pergolski, Little Chicago, Amanda Baumann, Weston and Amber (Charlie) Emerson, Wausau; three grandchildren, Jadden, Keeley and Kassandra; five siblings, Cheryl (Duane) Tietz, Mosinee, Randy (Paul Cybula) Baumann, Merrill, Cindy (Judy Schraufnagel) Baumann, Wausau, Scott (May Khang) Baumann, Rib Mountain and Sheldon (Tina) Baumann, Wausau; girlfriend, Ruth Schlitz, Merrill; father-in-law, Charles "Doug" Asmundsen, Wausau; his brothers and sisters-in-law, James Asmundsen, Wausau, Cathy (Vern) Block, Ringle, Richard (Gwen Kieffer) Asmundsen, Wausau, Michael (Cathy) Asmundsen, Merrill, Kenneth (Linda) Asmundsen, Merrill and Angela (Jeff Goetsch) Asmundsen, Wausau; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Cheryl and mother-in-law, Darlene Asmundsen.
Funeral services will 3:00 p.m. Monday, February 15, 2010 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Wausau. Rev. John Meachen will officiate. Friends may call Sunday from 2:00 until 6:00 p.m. at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau and again on Monday from 2:00 p.m. until time of services at the church.
