The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department has taken two people into custody on charges related to the production of methamphetamine after a search warrant was conducted on Sunday night in the Town of Scott.
Deputies along with officers from the Merrill Police Department went to a multi-family rental unit at N1325 Tannery Rd Merrill. At the time of the search only the targeted apartment was occupied, all others were vacant and not rented. Deputies soon located evidence of methamphetamine production at that residence.
Chuck A. Groff, age 38, and his wife, Kathryn I. Groff, age 42, were present in the apartment they rent and were taken into custody. Both are being held in the Lincoln County Jail on multiple charges related to the production of methamphetamine. Both Groff’s had bond hearings on Tuesday afternoon in Lincoln County Court.
Two children were also present in the home where the methamphetamine items were alleged to have been located. The children were placed into protective custody by Lincoln County Department of Social Services where they remain at this time.
Also assisting at the scene was a K9 unit from the Wood County Sheriff’s Department, and members of the Wisconsin Department of Justice Criminal Investigations Unit, Narcotics Bureau.
This case, along with others regarding the production and distribution of narcotics in Lincoln County is ongoing with other arrests being possible.
