Touch of Health brings holistic healing under one roof
Touch of Health, at 726 E. Second St. in Merrill, is a collective of independent practitioners who have come together under one roof with the common bond of holistic healing.
Practitioners who share the building include Denise Hoffman's Peaceful Palms Massage, Deb Boyce's Blissful Yoga, Marla Van Wie's Massage by Marla, and Evelyn Lee, therapist with Family Counseling Services.
Van Wie was the catalyst for the concept that became Touch of Health. She asked the others if they would be interested in joining her.
"We wanted to create a one stop shop in the mall of good health," Van Wie said.
The new business space opened in August.
"We all came together, our service compliment each other," Boyce said.
The dècor is intentionally soothing and comfortable.
"We wanted to make it very homey and not a clinic environment," Hoffman said.
Each practitioner has a space set up for their particular needs.
"It all kind of connects," Lee said. "Our personalities are in each room."
The building had previously served as a counseling center, so the layout was intended for privacy.
Lee, who had been working out of the Family Counseling Center office in Wausau for years, was interested in bringing a satellite office to her hometown of Merrill. When Van Wie offered the space at Touch of Health, Lee insisted that the agency seize the opportunity.
Andy Benedetto, executive director of Family Counseling Services, noted that the agency had recently contracted with Lincoln County to provide services.
"We found that this was really an underserved area," he said. "Evelyn had already expressed an interest and it just fit really nicely with our business plan."
Lee is seeing people in Merrill with mental health and alcohol and drug abuse issues.
Any of the practitioners at Touch of Health can be reached by calling the main phone number at 715-203-6476. Touch of Health will hold an open house on Saturday, Dec. 3, from 3-5 p.m. to introduce the public to the services offered for mind, body, spirit and soul.
