Merrill Motors ready to serve local customers
Merrill Motors is aiming to build a reputation the old-fashioned way, one satisfied customer at a time.
The new dealership occupies a familiar spot at 705 N. Center Ave. in Merrill. The site has been a car lot since the 1970s and has been owned by Stark Motor Group since the 1980s. Merrill Motors is a division of Stark Motor Group and manager Rick Hubacek has been with Stark since 1982.
Merrill Motors carries used vehicles ranging in price from $2,500 to $25,000, including domestic and import cars, trucks and vans. Many of the vehicles are still under factory warranty.
"We have 80 cars on the lot," Hubacek said. "In a small town that's a commitment."
Merrill Motors also has access to over 400 used cars through the Stark network of dealerships.
Hubacek hired a couple of familiar faces to staff Merrill Motors. Jim Otto and Tom Carstensen have both been in car sales a long time and both worked at the Stark new-car dealership when it was located on the site.
"Between the three of us, we have over 100 years of used car experience," Hubacek said. "They're service-minded salesmen for whom a handshake still means something."
High-pressure sales is not the style at Merrill Motors.
"We want big-town results, not big-town mentality," Hubacek said.
Merrill Motors strives to be everything the name implies, a local business serving local customers.
"We want to serve Merrill," Hubacek said. "We want to be known for helping local people."
Merrill Motors has a full service department through Meineke of Merrill, which is located in the same building and also affiliated with Stark.
"Meineke is our service department," Hubecek said. "They look at all our cars. It's working really well."
Merrill Motors is open Monday through Friday 9 a.m.-6 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m.-4 p.m. The business can be reached at 715-539-2767.
