Church Mutual assigns new roles to officers
Bob Buckley has been named Vice President - Organizational Planning and Process Management and Randy Brandner Vice President - Chief Risk Officer at Church Mutual Insurance Company. The moves are part of administration restructuring within the 114-year-old property and casualty insurer.
Buckley has served as Vice President - Corporate Pricing, Products, Line Services and New Markets since 2009.
Brandner previously was Vice President - Underwriting and Risk Management.
Buckley got his start at Church Mutual as a Regional Representative in Sales and Marketing from 1988 to 1997. He was promoted to Ohio Valley Division Manager in 1997 and New England Division Manager in 1998. In 2005, he became Eastern Regional Manager. He served as Assistant Vice President - New Markets and Product Research and Development from 2007 to 2009.
Buckley has a bachelor's degree in business administration from LeMoyne College in Syracuse, N.Y. Insurance designations include Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU), Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC), Accredited Advisor in Insurance (AAI), Associate in Risk Management (ARM), Associate in Surplus Lines Insurance (ASLI) and Associate in Reinsurance (ARe).
"Bob already has a well-rounded insurance career," President and CEO Mike Ravn observed. "In his new role, he will be on the front line in helping us retain our acknowledged spot as the industry leader."
Brandner joined Church Mutual as an underwriter in 1986. He was promoted to Senior Underwriter in 1988; Rating, Coding and Data Entry Manager in 1989; Assistant Vice President - Underwriting Manager in 1994; and Vice President - Underwriting in 1998. In 2004, he became Vice President - Underwriting and Risk Management.
Brandner had sales and underwriting experience prior to coming to Church Mutual.
He earned an associate degree in insurance from Northcentral Technical College and an executive master's degree in business administration from the University of Wisconsin - Madison. He received the CPCU designation in 1991. Brandner also holds Associate in Management (AIM), ARM, ARe and Associate in Insurance Services (AIS) designations.
"Randy already has valuable experience dealing with our many reinsurers," Ravn said. "In these trying economic times, I can rest easier knowing he will be the point person for mitigating the many risks we face."
Church Mutual, which now insures more than twice as many religious organizations as its nearest competitor with more than 100,000 accounts, is rated A (Excellent) by industry analyst A.M. Best.
