Roger A. Plamann, age 57, of Mosinee, formerly of Merrill, died Sunday, July 6, 2014.
Roger was born May 14, 1957, in Merrill, son of Lorraine (Loesel) and the late Edgar Plamann. He was a 1975 graduate of Merrill Senior High School. Roger received his Associate Degree in Architectural & Residential Design from Northcentral Technical College, Wausau, in 1979. While attending N.T.C., Roger was elected into the Sigma Alpha Lambda Honor Society in 1978. Roger earned his Bachelor of Science Degree at UW Stout in 2003, and later earned a Bachelor of Architectural & Vocational Training, in 2008, after attending UW Marathon and UW Madison. Roger spent 20 years working at Trantow Building Center and Trantow Do-It Center, Merrill, while attending college. He was an Architectural/Residential Design instructor at N.T.C. from 1999 until his retirement. Roger had also been an owner of the former Snyder Drug Store, Merrill. He was entered in the ‘Book of Who’s Who’ among American teachers in 2002. Roger received many scholarships and awards throughout his teaching career. Roger had been the N.T.C. coordinator with the Habitat for Humanity Program. Roger was also involved in the German Sister School Exchange Program, taking local students to Germany where they could interact with German design students, and was an instructor for students from grade 7 -10 at the the N.T.C. College Camp. He would take his father, Edgar, with him to assist with the camp. Roger was involved with his church and would play drums at the services. An accomplished drummer, Roger played in several local bands, including ‘Larry Jourdan & the Polka Teen’s’. Roger loved his cat ‘Purr-Cee’.
Survivors include his mother, Lorraine Plamann, Merrill; two siblings, Duane Plamann and Shirley (Roger A.) Yonke, both of Merrill; and several nieces and nephews. Roger is preceded in death by his father, Edgar Plamann, his sister, Bonnie Randall, and his sister in law, Mary Plamann.
A gathering of family and friends will take place from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday, August 6, 2014, at the Taylor-Stine Funeral Home, Merrill. Burial of Roger’s cremated remains will take place later in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery ‘Dutch Corners’, Town of Schley, Lincoln County.
