Alderman Lokemoen resigns

Second District Alderman Pete Lokemoen has resigned.

In an email sent to Mayor Woellner and City Clerk Bill Heideman Friday afternoon, Lokemoen advised of his resignation effective Saturday September 15.

I hereby resign from my position as the Second District Alderman, effective on sept 15, 2018, due to personal reasons.  I am aware of a number of very qualified second district residents who would be interested in being considered for this position.
Thank you to the residents of the second district for allowing me to serve as their representative to the Merrill City Council.”

Lokemoen garnered the 2nd District seat in 2014; topping Michael “Gus” Caylor Jr. 122-70. Lokemoen was challenged in 2016 by Amanda Kostman and would ultimately  prevail 213-131.

According to City Administrator Dave Johnson, the city is now accepting applications to fill the 2nd District seat via the city’s internet homepage https://www.ci.merrill.wi.us/ under the News and Announcements Tab. Deadline for applying for the vacancy has been set for Noon, Tuesday October 2.
