Maxine Rose Schmoeckel

Maxine Rose Schmoeckel, age 79 of Suring, passed away on Tuesday, September 4, 2018.  Maxine was born on March 17, 1939 to the late Orville and Emma Hatfield in Mountain, WI.  On September 29, 1984, Maxine married Robert Schmoeckel in Merrill, WI.  Maxine’s passion was to sew, making many wedding and bridal party dresses over the years.  She enjoyed cooking, fishing, camping, and spending time with her grandchildren.

Maxine is survived by her husband, Robert of Suring; 5 children, Pam (Junior) Nelson of Suring, Julia (Martin) Timm of Suring, Lisa (Robert) Yakel of Suring, Kevin (Shelly) Schulz of Suring, and Dale (Becky) Schulz of Hill City, KS; 2 step-sons, Paul and Aaron; 15 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; 8 siblings, Charlotte (Glenn) Sherwood, John Hatfield, Marilu McDonald, Nellie (Bernard) Lenz, Jim (Ann) Hatfield, Wayne (Cindy) Hatfield, Arthur Hatfield, and Carlotta (Richard) Schulz; brothers and sisters-in-law, John Schmoeckel, Mary (Steven) Raatz, Shirley (Charles) Degner, Val Slewitzski.  She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; step-father, Nels Stromberg; infant son, Henry; siblings, Julia and Lloyd; brother-in-law, George; sister-in-law, Chris; mother-in-law, Irene Schmoeckel.

Visitation will be held at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Breed on Friday, September 7, 2018 from 9 am until the funeral service at 12 pm with Pastor Paul Scheunemann officiating.  Maxine will be interred in Breed Union Cemetery at a later date.  Gruetzmacher Funeral Home in Suring is assisting the family with arrangements.  Online condolences can be expressed at www.gruetzmacherfuneralhome.com.

The family would like to give a special thank you to the staffs of Mountain Ambulance, HSHS Hospital, Bellin Hospital, County Rescue and Unity Hospice for the care and compassion showed to Maxine and her family.  Further thanks to all those who brought food, snacks, and kind words to Maxine and the family in their time of need.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
