Merrill Police reports
August 17
9 a.m.- Officers responded to the Social Services building for a complaint of a male party yelling at social workers and using profanity in the parking lot. Officers investigated the incident and discovered that the male party was upset with the visitation arranged with his biological son. Due to this he was yelling and swearing at the social worker. The male party admitted to this and was issued a citation for disorderly conduct.
3:49 p.m.- Officers responded to the area of the roundabout for a male party pointing a gun at passing cars. Officers located the male party and discovered the alleged gun was actually a foam gun from the game Minecraft. The male party was discovered to have warrants for his arrest and was taken into custody for those warrants.
3:54 p.m.- Officers responded to an address in the 1500 block of Mathews Street for a male and female involved in a physical argument. Officers investigated the incident and based on the statements from parties on scene, determined that the male party had punched the female party in the stomach and back. The female party then grabbed the male party by the genitals causing pain. The male party was identified but fled from the scene. The female party was found to have a warrant for her arrest issued by probation and parole. The female party was taken into custody and offered medical treatment. The incident was referred to the district attorney’s office for criminal charges.
August 18
3:03 p.m.- An officer responded to a violation of a court order. Contact was made with the caller who advised he has a court order against another male party and he was confronted by the male party at the fair. Contact was made with the suspect, who denied contact with the caller and said he was being harassed by him due to other issues between the two and that the allegations were false. The matter is being forwarded to the district attorney.
3:48 p.m.- Officers responded to a battery complaint. The caller advised they were at Walmart and they were struck in the face by a male party, who then threatened to harm them if they called law enforcement. Contact was made with the suspect who was arrested for battery, intimidation of a victim, three counts of bail jumping and operating a motor vehicle without a license, 2nd offense.
August 19
12:45 a.m.- Officers responded to a hit and run complaint. The caller advised they had located a street sign that had been struck at the roundabout. A vehicle with two flat tires and heavy front end damage was located in the area. Contact was made with the driver who displayed signs of intoxication. The driver was placed through field sobriety tests and failed. The vehicle parts left behind at the accident scene matched that of the vehicle with the flat tires. The driver was arrested for operating while intoxicated, 1st offense and was cited for hit and run.
August 20
5:20 p.m.- A female party met with an officer at the police department to report a domestic incident involving her and the father of her child. The female reported being struck in the face by the male party. The male party has not been located at this time.
11:53 p.m.- An officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for a registration violation. During the traffic stop K9 Poncho responded and alerted on the vehicle. A subsequent search revealed items utilized in drug distribution including packaging material and a scale. The male driver was arrested for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Possession of Methamphetamine. A female passenger was arrested after approximately 4 grams of methamphetamine was located on her person. Another male passenger was also arrested for a probation violation and was additionally charged with Manufacture and Delivery of Methamphetamine.
August 21
2:25 p.m.- An officer spoke with a female who was having trouble with a neighbor in the 1900 block of E. 1st St. There were concerns that an intoxicated neighbor was giving children at the neighboring residence unwanted attention according to the mother. When the neighbor was spoken to, she advised that she has concerns that the children are not being cared for. There was nothing noted by the officer indicating any concerns of the children’s welfare.
August 22
9:11 a.m.- An officer responded to a residence with Probation and Parole for a male party with a warrant. The male party was at his residence and was taken into custody.
3:56 p.m.- An officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle. The driver was cited for operating after revocation and was arrested for bail jumping.
August 23
2:13 p.m.- An officer conducted a traffic stop. The driver of the vehicle was cited for operating after revocation, 10th offense and operating without insurance. He was also taken into custody for a probation violation.
August 24
6:38 a.m.- Officers took a report that a male subject attempted to break into a residence. The suspect left prior to officers arriving. The male suspect was also found to have warrants for his arrest. When located he will be charged with criminal damage to property and trespassing.
8:12 a.m.- An officer was dispatched to the 100 block of North Prospect Street for a report of a door that was damaged. The investigation is ongoing.
6:53 p.m.- Officers and Lincoln County EMS were dispatched to an address for a possible medical emergency. Upon arrival, officers and EMS were able to make contact with the male who was found to be alright. During the course of the contact, the male subject became disorderly with EMS staff and officers attempted to detain the male. The male subject resisted officers before being taken into custody. The male subject was taken into custody for a probation hold as well as charges of disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.
August 25
2:29 a.m.- Officers arrested a female for a probation violation. During the course of the arrest, the female was found to be in possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. The female was taken to jail where she was booked in on the probation violation and the possession charges.
5:39 p.m.- An officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle. The vehicle and driver were searched as a result of a K9 indicating the presence of illegal substances. The male driver was found to be in possession of methamphetamine and THC. The male was taken to jail and was charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of THC and bail jumping.
10:47 p.m.- An officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle. The driver of the vehicle was found to have a warrant through the Department of Corrections. The female driver was arrested for the warrant and was transported to jail.
August 26
1:56 a.m.- An officer responded to the 2400 block of E. 6th St. for a harassment complaint involving neighbors. During contact with involved parties a male party was arrested after being found with a female he is not to have contact with.
3:36 a.m.- An officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for equipment violations. During the traffic stop a K9 was deployed and alerted on the vehicle. A search revealed marijuana. The operator was cited for Possession THC.
3:32 p.m.- Officers responded to the 1000 Block of E. Main St. for a report of an odor of marijuana coming from an apartment. Contact was made with occupants of the apartment and a male party was found to have a warrant for his arrest. The male party was arrested for the warrant.
