A day full of activities planned to benefit River Bend Trail

Nothing ever happens in Merrill… except a Chalk It Up event with over 40 artists, a family Ride the River bike event and a Pig and Corn Roast with music all on Saturday, Aug. 25, at or near the River Bend Trail on South Park Street.

The Friends of the River Bend Trail along with the Rotary Club of Merrill are hosting these three events to raise money to complete the interior of the Agra Pavilion at the trailhead. Money will be used for insulation, walls, ceiling, flooring and electrical.

Chalk It Up begins at 7 a.m. when artists will chalk the sidewalk near the Courthouse. Ride the River begins at 9 a.m.. Riders can choose a 5-mile loop or a 12-mile loop which goes through Council Grounds State Park. Both routes will have stops at the Merrill Historical Society and the Lincoln County Humane Society. Lunch is included.

Pig Out for the Pavilion begins at 3 p.m. and includes a pig and corn roast with sides. Music will be provided. Registration and tickets for the pig roast can be purchased at the Merrill Chamber, at First Street Coffee Station or online through the Merrill Chamber, www.merrillchamber.org.
