Merrill Police reports

August 13
2:32 p.m.- An officer responded to a shoplifting complaint. A female had stolen numerous items from the store. She was identified and spoken to. She denied the incident and was arrested for theft.
5:05 p.m.- An officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle that was going the wrong way on a one way street. Contact was made with the driver who displayed signs of intoxication. The male was placed through field sobriety tests and was arrested for operating while intoxicated, 3rd offense. The driver was also arrested for a probation violation and was transported to the jail.

August 14
11:05 a.m.- Officers responded to a government building for a disturbance. Two individuals were creating a disturbance at the front desk. The female was yelling profanities at staff. The male’s involvement was minimal. The female was arrested for disorderly conduct.
6:40 p.m.- Officers responded to a residence to make contact with a male party who had a warrant for his arrest. Contact was made with the male who was transported to the jail on the warrant.
7:24 p.m.- An anonymous caller came to the police department to report a verbal domestic incident that was happening at a park. Contact was made with the male and female. The male was found to have three warrants for his arrest and he was taken into custody.

August 15
3:24 p.m.- A caller reported he was released from incarceration today and discovered the person who was supposed to be making his mortgage payments had not done so causing the property to go to foreclosure. The person in question stated she had placed the payments in the bank deposit box. At this point the caller doesn’t wish to pursue any kind of action.
4:47 p.m.- A caller reported a package had been stolen from his porch. Investigation continues.

August 16
11:22 a.m.- An officer on patrol observed a truck with no driver rolling in a parking lot which then struck a pole. There was no damage to the vehicle. It was found the truck had popped out of gear causing it to roll.
1:21 p.m.- A store reported discovering someone had stolen items from the store. Investigation continues.
4:03 p.m.- A male was arrested for a probation violation at the request of the Wisconsin Dept. of Corrections.
10:39 p.m.- A fair-goer reported a fight in the beer tent to an officer patrolling the festival grounds. It was found two males were yelling and arguing with one another. One agreed to depart to prevent further issues.
