Audrey J. Heuser

Audrey J. Heuser, 87, of Merrill passed away July 22, 2018 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital under palliative care.

Audrey was born November 19, 1930, in Lincoln County, daughter of the late Charles Sr. and Dorothy (Mittag) Graap.  She married Vernon R. Heuser on June 9, 1951.  He preceded her in death on March 26, 2000.  Audrey had worked at the former Merrill Woolen Mills and Anson & Gilkey.  Audrey was a member of St. Stephens United Church of Christ and taught Sunday school for many years.  She volunteered with the Food Pantry and helped with the Tuesday kid’s meal at the park.

Audrey enjoyed playing cards with family and friends, playing computer games, social media, working on needlepoint, watching the Milwaukee Brewers, baking and cooking, shopping, and traveling.  She especially enjoyed the trip she took to London with her granddaughter, Kristi.  Audrey also enjoyed socializing at Dinner @ 5 on Mondays and Breaking Bread on Thursdays.  In her younger years, she enjoyed snowmobiling and bowling.

Survivors include her children, Michael (Paulette) Heuser of Merrill, Candy (Bob) Hinner of Merrill and Mark (Laurie) Heuser of Wausau; grandchildren, Eric (Tanya) Heuser, Joe (Michelle) Heuser, Brad Hinner (Luci), Kristi (Brad) Spicer, Stacy (Bill) Schoepke, Paul (Erin) Wilichowski and Erin Wilichowski; great-grandchildren, Olivia Heuser, Leila Heuser, Gabriella Heuser, Bobby Hinner, Angela Hinner, Lily Spicer and Taylor Audrey Spicer; siblings, Eunice Schubert of Federal Way, Washington, Ken (Carolyn) Graap of Merrill, Virginia (Marvin) McElhaney of Wausau and Barbara Golisch of Merrill; sister in law, Kathleen Graap, Merrill; and many nieces and nephews.  Audrey was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Heuser; parents, Charles Sr. and Dorothy Graap; siblings, Lucille Graap, Dennis Graap and Charles Graap Jr.; and brothers-in-law, Kenwood Schubert and Kermit Golisch.

The funeral service for Audrey will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, July 25, 2018 at St. Stephens United Church of Christ, Merrill.  Rev. Kyle Carnes will officiate.  Burial will take place at Merrill Memorial Park Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Tuesday, July 24th at the Taylor-Stine Funeral Home, Merrill and after 9:30 A.M. Wednesday, July 25th at the church.  Taylor-Stine Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Merrill, is assisting the family.

Audrey’s family would like to thank Dr. Delin Wang and the palliative care nurses for the wonderful care and attention they gave Audrey.
