Riverside Athletic Club trainer places in bodybuilding competition

Riverside Athletic Club is proud of their trainer, Matt Chapa, who recently competed in a bodybuilding competition in DeKalb, IL and took third place.

“For the past couple of years, I have been wanting to try competing in a bodybuilding competition and decided now was the best time to make that happen,” says Chapa, personal trainer and coach at Riverside Athletic Club. “Once I was able to get to a certain weight, I decided it was time to look into actually training for a competition.”

Along the way, Chapa had a great support team in place and found that training was a time consuming but rewarding experience.

“I was so thankful to Riverside for helping in my journey,” he said. “The wonderful facility allowed me to use a variety of equipment which then allowed me to create a vast array of workouts to help me train.”

During the past few months, you could find Chapa at Riverside at all hours of the day, including the early hours of the morning. He was on a strict workout routine as well as an eating program that made it possible for him to obtain the weight and physique he was looking for.

Chapa competed in the Open and Novice categories in order to get more experience because it was his first competition. He walked away winning third place in the novice division.

“We are excited and fortunate to have someone here at the club as a trainer that has such a passion for life, for being physically fit and for helping others in their journey,” says Paul Kienitz, owner of Riverside Athletic Club. “We are really proud of Matt and wish him all the best in his future competitions.”
