The Merrill girls basketball team held their annual end of the year awards banquet on Sunday, March 11, at the Merrill High School cafeteria. At the ceremony there were four individual awards given out and a Captain Award that was given out to three separate players, all voted on by the team. Two players for the girls basketball team also earned WVC (Wisconsin Valley Conference) All-Conference honors.

The Captains Award was given to three senior girls including Maddix Bonnell, Patience Pyan and Lindsey Casper. Maddix Bonnell was also voted as the MVP of the team. Maddix was the only four year varsity player on the team and became only the third girl in Merrill history to record 1,000 career points. The offensive Most Valuable Player award was given to Patience Pyan, who led the girls in points per game on the season. The defensive Most Valuable Player was awarded to Kate Peterson. Peterson had a nice year causing havoc on the defensive side of the floor creating a bunch of turnovers. The Newcomer award was given to Reese Mrachek. Being only a sophomore this year Mrachek played a big role for the Lady Jays, giving them good minutes as a post presence.

Maddix Bonnell and Patience Pyan were also recognized as being some of the top players in the conference with each of them earning WVC All-Conference honors. Bonnell was awarded with second team all conference while Pyan received honorable mention.
