A 52-year-old Gleason woman was arrested Tuesday afternoon on a criminal traffic charge after deputies investigated a reckless driver. She was taken into custody for a third offense of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated and cited for reckless driving.

Tomahawk Firefighters along with deputies responded to a reported structure fire Thursday afternoon in the Town of King. At 12:30 p.m., a 911 call reported a fire in the wall of a home on Spring Lake Road. When a deputy arrived the homeowner told him he was able to use a fire extinguisher to put out the fire. Tomahawk Firefighters were on the scene for about half an hour.

Three people were injured after a two vehicle crash Thursday evening in the Town of Bradley. A vehicle being driven by a 60-year-old Plover man was traveling west on US Hwy. 8 when a vehicle being driven by a 27-year-old Tomahawk woman turned in front of it to travel north on County Rd. L. The Tomahawk Fire Department assisted with traffic control for nearly two hours as the highway needed to be shut down.

A 17-year-old Merrill man was arrested Friday morning after deputies investigated suspicious activity in the Town of Merrill. The incident was reported Thursday evening, the suspect was arrested for possession drug paraphernalia.

A 44-year-old Merrill man was arrested Saturday morning on a felony charge after a deputy found a vehicle in the ditch in the Town of Scott just after 2 a.m. The driver was sleeping behind the wheel when the deputy made contact with him and he showed signs of impairment. He refused field sobriety tests and was taken into custody for a fifth offense of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated.

A 49-year-old Merrill woman was seriously injured after a one vehicle crash on County Rd. C at Anna Road Saturday afternoon in the Town of Merrill. As of Sunday the woman was in fair condition.

Two people received minor injuries after a one vehicle crash Saturday afternoon in the Town of Merrill. The vehicle left the roadway and rolled over on US Hwy. 51 north of County Rd. C. The occupants of the vehicle were from Minocqua, they refused medical treatment on the scene. Traffic was slowed for about an hour and a half as the vehicle was removed.

Over 40 people notified the Sheriff’s Office this weekend for controlled burns. You are reminded that you will need a burning permit when snow cover is gone. You only need to notify the Sheriff’s Office if you are burning a larger pile or in a well-traveled area.

Six people reported striking deer this past week, up from previous weeks.
