Helen A. Grawien, age 89, of Merrill, passed away on Thursday, March 8, 2018, at Pine Crest Nursing Home, Merrill.
Helen Ann Borchardt was born October 1, 1928 in the Town of Berlin, the youngest of five children of the late Lena and Carl Borchardt. She was married to Milton Grawien on October 1, 1947, a marriage that lasted nearly 53 years until his death on April 27, 2000. She was a devoted wife and mother, with a strong dedication to church and family. Among other things, her interests included cooking and canning, gardening, and raising flowers. Helen is survived by three children, four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Her children include Robert (Kathryn) Grawien, Green Bay, Leann (Darrell) Fuhrmann, and Jerome (Debra) Grawien, both of Merrill. Grandchildren include Cassandra Samuels of Tampa, Fl., Christopher and Eric Grawien, both of Washington DC, and Andrew Grawien of Merrill. Great-grandchildren include Evelyn, Luca and Isla Samuels of Tampa, FL. She was preceded in death by husband Milton; her parents, Lena (Haffemann) and Carl Borchardt; brother Arnold Borchardt; and sisters Adeline Langbecker, Myrtle Pagel and Grace Holz.
The funeral will begin at 11:00 AM Monday, March 12, 2018, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Merrill. The Rev. Scott Gustafson will officiate. Burial will follow in Snow Hill Cemetery, Town of Scott. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Sunday, March 11th at the Taylor-Stine Funeral Home, Merrill, and again after 9:30 AM on Monday at the church.
