Arleen R. Gruetzmacher

Arleen R. Gruetzmacher, 94, formerly of the Town of Pine River, passed away Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at Pine Crest Nursing Home, Merrill.

Arleen was born May 23, 1923 in the Town of Stettin, Marathon County, daughter of the late Dietrich and Martha (Tesch) Pagel.  She married Clarence R. Gruetzmacher on May 18, 1946 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Town of Stettin.  He preceded her in death on January 22, 2007.  Arleen was a member of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, Merrill.  She enjoyed gardening, watching the birds and baking bread.  Arleen also enjoyed doing needle point, quilting and sewing.  She cherished the time she spent with her family and grandchildren.

Survivors include her son, Gary (Elma) Gruetzmacher of Merrill; son-in-law, Michael (Marilyn) Jirovec of Merrill; six grandchildren, Tracy (Michael) Renn, Todd (Jesie) Gruetzmacher, Troy Gruetzmacher, Karen (Rich) Reitz, Bryce Jirovec and Rory (Jenny) Jirovec; twelve great-grandchildren, Alyssa Renn, Alex (Tatiana) Renn, Jaxon Renn, Connor Renn, Christine Blakeslee, Brittany Blakeslee, Ava Gruetzmacher, Eve Gruetzmacher, Abdel Gruetzmacher, Addison Jirovec, Brenna Jirovec and Claire Jirovec; brother, James L. (Barbara) Pagel of Wausau; her in-laws, Rosalie Sprafke, Arlette Gruetzmacher and Elroy (Phyllis) Gruetzmacher; and many nieces and nephews.  Arleen was preceded in death by her parents, Dietrich and Martha Pagel; daughter, Sandy Jirovec; sister, Stella Ninnemann; and brothers, Norman Pagel and Vernon Pagel.

The funeral service for Arleen will be held at 11:0 A.M., Saturday, February 24, 2018, at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, Merrill. The Rev. Patricia Schutz will officiate. Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM Saturday at the church. Taylor-Stine Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Merrill, is assisting the family.
