Marion benefit set for Saturday

Saturday evening, Les and Jim’s Lincoln Lanes and Friends of Chris Marion will host a benefit for the Merrill Firefighter/Paramedic, to assist with medical expenses in the wake of a boating accident on Labor Day Weekend. As a result, Marion sustained a cervical spinal injury and has been unable to return to service since the accident.

“Chris is our brother and has proudly served the Merrill community and surrounding areas for the last 23 years,” explains Merrill Fire Department Battalion Chief Steve Hintze. “He is the type of guy that will step up to help anyone at any time. Now it’s our turn to help him.”

Festivities are planned to kick off Saturday at 3 p.m., with dinner consisting of pulled pork, shredded beef brisket, cole slaw, potato salad and baked beans to be served from 5-8 p.m. Raffles will be held continuously through the evening consisting of a meat raffle, various firearms, a crossbow, chainsaw, 55” television, guided Musky fishing trip and many other prizes and baskets. Winning names will be drawn at 6 p.m.

Musical entertainment will be provided by Cody Rogers and Coyote Karaoke of Merrill.

All proceeds will be donated to the Marion family for assistance with expenses related to Chris’ accident and recovery.
