Merrill Police reports

01-22-18

At 10:21 am, an officer took a report of a male subject that was contacting another individual whom he was not allowed to have contact with due to a court order. The investigation is ongoing.

At 8:27 pm, an officer conducted a traffic stop for an equipment violation. A K9 from the Lincoln County Sheriffs officer responded and had a positive alert on the vehicle. A subsequent search resulted in officers locating methamphetamine and items of drug paraphernalia. A male subject was taken into custody and transported to the jail.

01-22-18

At 10:21 am, a caller reported receiving contact from a male that is prohibited from contacting her per court order. Investigation is ongoing.

At 4:15 pm, a caller reported a crash in a parking lot. One person had been backing up and struck another vehicle in the lot. A crash report was completed

At 8:27 pm, an officer stopped a vehicle for an equipment violation. A K9 was requested and had a positive alert to the odor of drugs. A search of the vehicle revealed methamphetamine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia. The driver was arrested for those charges as well as bail jumping.

01-23-18

At 3:54 am, a caller reported her vehicle stolen. A likely suspect was named. The vehicle was located abandoned six minutes later on HWY 51 by a deputy.

At 1:58 pm, a caller reported she was in the process of selling her vehicle to a buyer who has the vehicle but is not making the payments to her. She discovered that person has now sold it to another party without the title. The officer discovered there is a lien on the vehicle and will be investigating as to whether or not charges will be brought against the sellers for selling encumbered property.

At 2:44 pm, a caller reported two males in her residence smoking marijuana and she wanted them removed. It was found nobody had been smoking marijuana and the caller had been napping and had a dream people were in her residence smoking marijuana.

At 9:45 pm, a caller reported a smoke odor coming into his residence from the downstairs residence. Officers did not receive a response from anyone in the lower residence and could smell a smoke odor and observe a haze inside the residence through a window. Officers forcibly entered the residence to ensure nobody inside was in need of medical attention and/or to ensure the residence was not actively on fire. A male and female were located passed out inside. The male had a warrant for his arrest through the Department of Corrections. He was arrested for that warrant. It was found a hamburger had been burned on the stove and a burner was still turned on. Merrill FD cleared the smoke from the residence.

01-24-18

At 2:30pm, officers located two male parties at an address in the 1000 Block of East Main Street.  The two male parties both had active warrants and were taken into custody.

January 26
2:28 p.m.- A store reported two people had been caught shoplifting. It was found the male suspect was on probation. He was arrested for the probation violation and cited for retail theft.
2:56 p.m.- A male was arrested for a probation violation at the request of Probation & Parole.
3:03 p.m.- A female was arrested for a probation violation at the request of Probation & Parole.

January 27
3:50 a.m.- A caller reported the neighbor was screaming outside for someone to call 911. Officers arrived and determined the issue to be a domestic disturbance. The involved male and female refused to provide many details as to what occurred. It was learned the male had grabbed the female at some point and shoved her down. The male was arrested for domestic disorderly conduct.
4:21 a.m.- Officers were called to a domestic disturbance after receiving a call from a man’s boss indicating his employee had called him reporting he had been in an altercation with his girlfriend. Officers checked the girlfriend’s residence and made entry to the residence after additional information was reported causing concern for her welfare. Officers made contact with the two who had completely different versions as to what occurred. The male was found to have been struck in the head with a set of keys. The investigation is ongoing.
3:22 p.m.- A store reported two males had been at their store shoplifting grocery items. Surveillance video was observed and possible suspects were recognized by another officer. Investigation is ongoing.
4:53 p.m.- A caller reported a family member had attacked her following an exchange of property. The officer observed surveillance video from the business and the two can be observed in a physical altercation. Contact will be made with the other party to gather their version of events. The investigation ongoing.
5:24 p.m.- A caller reported her juvenile grandson had shoved and struck her. He then reportedly armed himself with a knife and fled the residence. He was located a short time later and it was found he had left the knife at the residence. He was transported to secure detention and will be referred to social services for disorderly conduct and battery.

January 28
3:52 p.m.- A caller reported she is receiving phone calls from her ex-husband who is currently incarcerated in the Wood County jail. Per court order he is not to have any contact with her. The officer is collecting the phone calls from Wood County’s jail and will be charging the man with bail jumping.
