Due to her outstanding performance on the basketball court and in the classroom, MHS Senior Patience Pyan has once again garnered Merrill Foto News Athlete of the Week accolades.
Pyan proved a driving force in the Bluejay Girls’ 67-60 triumph over Rhinelander on January 16; putting up 20 points, 4 assists, 5 rebounds and four steals to boot. Headed into the tail end of the 2017-18 season, Pyan continues to lead the Bluejay ladies in overall scoring. A four-year starter for the varsity girls, Pyan also competes on the Bluejay varsity softball squad in the spring as a third baseman.
Aside from sports, Patience is active in the local Big Brothers Big Sisters Program.
Daughter of Tammy and Bob Pyan of Merrill, Patience currently maintains a 3.5 GPA.
Following graduation this spring, Pyan hopes to play basketball at a 4-year university. She is currently undecided on a major, but is considering a career in education and coaching.
