Raleigh named Youth Optimist of the Month

Brant Raleigh was nominated by his school counselor, Mrs. Allie Libby, for the December Youth Optimist of the Month.

Mrs. Libby states, “Brant is a good leader and I have seen this through him being a part of Link Crew. He steps into leadership roles, makes students feel comfortable, and has excellent follow through. Brant excels by taking challenging courses and is involved in a variety of activities. He is seen as a leader in the different groups he is involved in. Brant has admirable goals for his future and will certainly accomplish those if he continues to have the character he has had in high school.”

Brant’s school activities include: football, basketball, baseball, math league, band, solo and ensemble, jazz band, pep band, Link Crew, National Honor Society, Class Officer, Student Council, Octagon Club and Earth Club.

Brant lettered in varsity basketball, varsity baseball, and varsity football; he was also the football team captain. He served as president and treasurer of the Octagon Club and president of Earth Club. In band Brant received a silver medal in Solo and Ensemble, and earned the Award of Excellence for AHEC Health Careers Camp.

Outside of school Brant volunteers at AHEC Health Careers Camp, Big Brothers Big Sisters, highway cleanup, Relay for Life, Kolor Run and many activities at St. Francis.

Brant plans to attend a four-year college to pursue a degree related to medicine or engineering. He is the son of Neil and Karla Raleigh.
