Undefeated Great Northern Conference swim teams, the Hatchets and the Hodags, met in Rhinelander last Thursday. Rhinelander was ready, including celebrating parents and seniors, but Tomahawk prevailed 101-69.
“Rhinelander posted some very nice times and were only behind by six points at the break,” noted ThS coach Theresa L’Esperance. “This was the closed dual meet we have experienced. It was an eye opener for the lady Hatchets.”
The Hatchets pulled away after the break with great swims by Katy Volz, Rachel Dallman and Kylee Theiler – all with two wins each.
“We have always believed we are a second half team, because that is when our true abilities come out,” L’Esperance added. “That is what happened. We started off the second half with 1-2 finishes in both the butterfly and the 100 Freestyle. We never looked back.”
The JV completed their season at the meet. No scoring was completed, but nice swims were turned in by Adison Villar, Jennifer Goehe, Anna Hawley, Teegan Wenzel and Serena Hanke.
