A late-morning fatal crash remains under investigation by the :Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office.
According to information from a media release issued by the Sheriff’s Office earlier this evening; at about 11:30 this morning, a male operator was reportedly northbound on STH 17 near old highway 17 in the town of Schley, when his vehicle left the roadway, struck a driveway embankment and rolled over.
The driver and lone occupant of the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene.
Alcohol does not appear to be be a factor in the crash and the male was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
Responding deputies were assisted at the scene of the crash by the Town of Russell Fire Department. STH 17 was closed for approximately two hours while the crash was
investigated.
The man’s identity will be released tomorrow.
