Merrill Police Department reports

September 25
3:12 p.m.- A caller reported that he had fallen victim to an online scam. The male said that he had attempted to apply for a loan over the internet, but the website he utilized turned out to be a fake website and as a result he lost a large sum of money after the website instructed him to pay certain fees in order to obtain the loan. The investigation is ongoing.
9:29 p.m.- Officers responded to a report of a fight in progress. Upon arrival on scene, officers spoke with witnesses and a female party who claimed to have been attacked by another female. It was determined that the other female fled the scene prior to the arrival of officers. The female who fled has been identified and the investigation is ongoing.
9:43 p.m.- Officers responded to a report of an altercation. A female reported that her ex-husband and her ex-husband’s girlfriend came to her residence and started an altercation that eventually became physical. The investigation is ongoing.

September 26
9:10 a.m.- Officers took a report of a burglary that had taken place at the Fairgrounds. Officers investigated and found that several of the permanent stands had been entered. Later in the day, officers located three juveniles around the area and they subsequently admitted their involvement in the entries. The investigation is ongoing, but the juveniles will be referred through juvenile court for several different charges.

September 28
1:16 a.m.- The K9 unit assisted a Lincoln County deputy with a drug sniff of a vehicle. The K9 indicated a positive alert. A marijuana grinder and pipe were located inside the vehicle. The driver was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia by the deputy.

September 29
Officers were dispatched to a theft complaint at Walmart; a male subject was identified and an ongoing investigation is occurring.

September 30
Officers were dispatched to the 1800 block of East Main Street at the request of the Wisconsin Department of Corrections to take a male subject into custody for violation of his electronic monitoring. The male subject was located, taken into custody and transported to the jail.
3:37 p.m.- An officer took a report of items stolen from a camper. The investigation is ongoing.

October 1
2:18 a.m.- Officers were dispatched to the 200 block of East Fifth Street for a report of a male subject that was attempting to break into houses in that block. The male subject had gained entry into one of the houses and when officers arrived he was located outside of the residence. The male subject was taken into custody and was eventually transported by Lincoln County EMS to the hospital for injuries he had received when he broke into the residence as well as other medical issues. The male subject will be charged with criminal damage to property, trespassing, disorderly conduct and two counts of bail jumping.
2:23 p.m.- Officers were dispatched to a business on North Center Avenue after receiving word that a female who had an active warrant for her arrest was at the business. The female subject was located and taken into custody on her warrant through the Wisconsin Department of Corrections- Probation and Parole and transported to the jail.
