Park City Gardens ‘Garden of the Month’

Park City Gardens October Garden of the Month award was presented to Marge and Randy Schultz, 500 S. Foster St. Marge and Randy have been gardening together for almost 30 years. In addition to maintaining their immaculate personal gardens, they are volunteers with Park City Gardens at Normal Park and the Gazebo. In 2010, their home and gardens were featured as part of the Master Gardener Garden Walk tour held in Merrill.

Marge, a Master Gardener, calls her gardens “her little paradise”; a special place that she can wander in, with her morning cup of coffee, before starting her day. The couple shopped at over 30 greenhouses this summer looking for just the right mixture of annual and perennial plants to add to their “paradise” of flower beds and containers.

While Marge works two to three hours a day in the flower beds (although she doesn’t consider it work), Randy takes care of the many flower containers that surround their garage and patio. Besides flowers, the couple has also added objects, which Marge calls “garden art” to their flower beds.

The Schultz’s gardens are an intriguing venue. As one marvels at the flowers and large pieces of garden art, a visitor is often surprised when they spot a little piece of “garden art” poking out from under a plant or tucked up on a tree branch.
