Tuesday night the Bluejay girls opened the doors of the MHS Field House in welcoming Wausau East and in turn sent the lady ‘Jacks packing with a decisive 56-44 WVC win.

While the ladies had their share of struggles in last Friday’s bout with D.C. Everest, their answer on Tuesday was a display of sheer firepower and staunch defense as they mounted a 27-20 lead in the first half. The second half would prove much the same as the Jays kept the artillery rolling with another 29 points to nail down the win.

Lindsey Casper led the Bluejay foray with a career high 20 points (8/11 FG, 4/5 3pt, a, 4r, st). Chelsey LaMonica shot true for 8 points (3/6 FG, 2/2 FT, 6a, 4r) while Maddix Bonnell made good on another 8 points (4/14 FG, 4a, 5r, 3st).

“East came out aggressive and we were a little on our heels,” comments head coach Joelene Weix. “We struggled early with our shots but kept attacking. Casper really found her shot tonight scoring 20 and shooting 8 of 11 from the floor.”
