Grapplers place 9th at Papermaker Invite

Saturday morning, the 2016-17 Bluejay wrestlers kicked off their season at the Papermaker Invitational meet hosted by Kimberly High School.
The Jays would go on to tie for 9th in the 16-team field, along with Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah with 216.5 points.
Noah Bolling (285) and Devon Schultz (138) spearheaded the Bluejay effort with 2nd place finishes.
Schultz would finish 3-1 on the day after pinning Preston Morgan of Berlin (1:28) and Connor Stiles of Kimberly (1:01). Schultz proceeded to score a 19-6 Major Decision over Lucas Stenzel in the third round of his bracket, before falling by 8-3 decision to Drew Scharenbrock of Sun Prairie in the championship bout.
Bolling would also finish 3-1 on the day; pinning Ryan Bollinger of Princeton (1:44) and Zach Wilson of Berlin (4:32). Bolling would go on to garner a 3rd round bye before falling by a tight 4-3 decision to Daniel Cole of Ashwaubenon.
Others placing for Merrill were Brody Zocher (182/4th), Hayden (120) and Hunter Smith (126) each placing 5th, Brodie Gehrke (145) 8th, Bradley Leiskau (152) 13th and Jake Spoehr (170) 14th.
