Tuesday night, Bluejay girls basketball took Medford to the shed 44-20 in their home opener.
Despite trailing 8-9 in the opening minutes, the ladies once again cut loose with their bountiful cache of firepower, blowing the Raiders out 28-12 in the first and packing another 16-8 wallop in the final period, to send the girls-in-black packing.
“We had a balanced attack tonight with scoring from different people,” comments first-year head coach Joelene Weix.
“Patience (Pyan) led the way for us scoring 15 points, 4 of which were from the 3-point line. We did a nice job adusting offensively to Medford’s various defenses which made for a good night, We were able to get a lot of girls time on the court and everybody did a great jpb contribuiting in different ways. It was just an all-around great home opener.”
As Coach Weix alluded to, Pyan took the lead bombardier seat with 15 points on the night (5/8 FG, 4/6 3pt, 1/2 FT, r, a, 4st). Fellow junior Maddix Bonnell cut loose with 11 points (4/8 FG, 3/5 3pt, 2r, 2a) while Lindsey Casper dunked 6 points (2/7 FG, 2/5 3pt, 2r, 5a).
