Local mom starts special needs children’s group

Shauna Bush-Cooper from Merrill is starting a new group for our community for children with special needs.

“As a mom of seven kids, two of which that have special needs, I know just how important socialization is for them, and how much our community needs this for our little Miracles!”, she says. The meetings will take place twice a month at OTTS Garage, starting on Dec. 20 from 6-7:30 p.m. Children will be able to do arts, crafts and other fun activities all while making new friends and broadening their social skills. Any special needs kids are welcome to come.
“Pastor Justin Novitski has been kind enough to offset the rental costs, as special needs parents have enough costs as it is.”, she adds. Shauna is also looking for donations and sponsors to help give something to Otts and to cover snacks, drinks, supplies for activities, etc.
On the first night kickoff, sponsored by Interflex, there will be snacks, a meet and greet, games and crafting Christmas tree ornaments while socializing. Parents are welcome to stay, and at dropoffs there will be a paper for them to fill out. It is required to send a previous message to Shauna in order to notify they will be going to the meeting. No charge-donations are welcome to offset costs.
