Pyan selected Athlete of the Week

MHS Junior Patience Pyan

MHS Junior Patience Pyan came back from a torn ACL to score 16 points in the basketball season opener against Northland Pines last Thursday. Patience suffered the injury in January of her sophomore basketball season, which also caused her to miss the spring softball season. She had surgery to repair her ACL in February and was cleared to play basketball in October. “It’s a great feeling,” she said. “It’s good to be back after so long.”

In addition to basketball, Patience plans to be get back to softball this coming spring, playing third base for the Bluejay varsity squad. When not playing sports, Patience enjoys outdoors activities with her family such as camping and swimming. The daughter of Tammy & Bob Pyan of Merrill, Patience currently holds a 3.5 GPA at MHS. Her future plans include playing college basketball and pursuing a degree in Occupational Therapy. She said she was inspired by her own therapy process in recovering from the torn ACL and a desire to help others who are injured to recuperate.
