Dress resale fundraising event for PRMS students

Approximately 45 eighth grade students from Prairie River Middle School will be traveling to Washington D.C. and New York City in June of 2017 for a five-day field trip. This trip is entirely funded by the students.

In an effort to raise money for their trip, on Saturday, Nov. 5, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., at the Merrill High School field house lobby, the students will be hosting a “Special Occasion Dress, Purse and Shoes Resale Event.” At this event, customers can shop for nearly new attire such as prom, homecoming and special occasion dresses. The items will be “priced to sell” – prices starting at $5 for dresses.

For this event to be successful, the students are also looking for dresses, purses and shoes to sell for the event. On Friday, Nov. 4, from 4-7 p.m. at the Merrill High School field house lobby, sellers can drop off clean, pre-priced dresses, shoes and purses. The students will sell their items for them on Saturday. The students will keep 30% of the profits and give the seller back 70% of the profit from the sale of the item. Donations are also accepted.

Traveling with WorldStrides, a travel group specializing in educational trips for students, they will be seeing two historic cities with incredible global influence. They will explore the monuments and museums of Washington, D.C., where history is preserved, and then visit Capitol Hill, where history is made. They will experience the excitement of New York City while walking through Times Square, see a Broadway show, and go backstage at NBC Studios. Stops also include Ellis Island and some of the world’s best shopping on Fifth Avenue.
