Gregory Geiss passed away Monday, October 3, 2016 at Edgewater Nursing Home in Port Edwards WI. He was born October 13, 1947 in Merrill WI to Elaine and Charles Geiss. He was in the US Army and served his country for 2 years during the Vietnam war. After his honorable discharge, he finished college at UW Stout and graduated with a degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management. He managed a hotel restaurant in Madison WI before owning and operating “Some Other Place” bar in Marinette WI. He moved back to the Merrill area in the late 70s and worked as a salesman for Merrill Candy and Distributing until he started his own “Dairy Treat” soft serve ice cream business in Wisconsin Rapids in April 1985. He ran that business until he became ill in 2012.
Greg is survived by his two sons, Jason Geiss, Steven Geiss and Steven’s wife Stacy Geiss, of Minneapolis MN, his ex-wife Cindi Wallace of Rhinelander WI, brother Rick (Marlys) Geiss of Irma WI, sister-in-law Kay Geiss of Hortonville WI and his neices and nephews.
Greg was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Chuck.
A gathering in memory of him will be held at Saturday, Oct. 8th at 5pm at Danny Kay’s Bar in Wisconsin Rapids WI
