A 19-year-old Merrill man was arrested Wednesday morning after deputies investigated a theft case in the Town of Merrill. On Tuesday a caller reported a vehicle missing from their residence. When the victim checked further they found a check had been removed from their check book, forged and cashed. When the suspect appeared in court on Thursday, the district attorney charged him with theft, operating a motor vehicle without the owner’s consent and bail jumping, all misdemeanors. The suspect was released on a signature bond.

A two-vehicle crash on Monday evening resulted in injuries to two Merrill women. A vehicle being driven by a 19-year-old Merrill man was southbound on State Rd. 17, crossed State Rd. 64 in front of a vehicle being driven by a 51-year-old Merrill woman that was traveling east on State Rd. 64. Pine River Firefighters and first responders also responded to the crash.

A 45-year-old Merrill man was seriously injured on Tuesday afternoon after a fire in the Town of Birch. A passerby found a tractor on fire and a man injured just before 5 p.m. The man was transported to Ascension Good Samaritan Health Center in Merrill then flown to the burn center at UW Madison Hospital. As of this weekend, the man remained in serious condition. The Town of Russell Fire Department also responded to the incident.

A 26-year-old Merrill man was arrested Wednesday afternoon at the Lincoln County Court House. The man appeared in court on another matter, a check showed he was wanted for violating his probation and by the Merrill Municipal Court for failing to pay fines.

A 41-year-old Rhinelander woman was arrested for disorderly conduct Wednesday evening after deputies investigated a disturbance. Deputies went to a home in the Town of Harrison after a 911 call reported the incident at 10 p.m.

A 39-year-old Tomahawk man was arrested Thursday morning on a probation hold after deputies investigated a disturbance in the Town of Wilson. Deputies responded to the home after a 911 call came in at 6:38 a.m.

A 20-year-old Wisconsin Rapids woman was arrested for disorderly conduct, battery and obstructing an officer early Sunday morning after deputies investigated a disturbance in the Town of Merrill. At 3:43 a.m. a cell 911 call reported the incident in the Town of Merrill.

The number of car deer crashes remains high with 10 being reported this past week.
