Hatchet football struggles continue

Tomahawk traveled to Fall Creek on Friday to face off in a non-conference game. Unfortunately, things did not go the Hatchets’ way as they were defeated by Fall Creek 48-13. Tomahawk had 202 total yards compared to Fall Creek’s 457.

“Friday night’s game at Fall Creek was once again a game where most of the time we were our own worst enemy,” comments head coach John Larson. “We dug ourselves a huge hole early and never recovered. We had way too many mental mistakes and blown assignments. We will continue to struggle if we can’t clean things up on both sides of the ball.

“Wyatt Wenninger had a solid night offensively rushing for two touchdowns and catching three passes for 110 yards. Our goal this week will be to play consistent fundamental football for four quarters. You have to execute as a TEAM on every play to have a chance. We are still not there. Basic fundamentals of the game is what makes a difference in the big picture and that is where we are struggling the most. We need to clean things up fast.

“Our last three games are pivotal to the success of our season. Winning three in a row would get us to .500 in the conference and give us a shot at the post season. Two of the three games are at home on Hatchet Field starting with Rib Lake/Prentice for Homecoming. A big win would against a very good football team would give us the momentum we need entering our final two weeks of the season. ”

Full game statistics where not available at press time. This article will be updated with full stats if/when they become available.
