Although they fared better than the previous match against West, Merrill tennis fell to Marshfield on Tuesday, with the final score 7-2.
For the singles, Katie Nelson of Merrill defeated Haley Hauck, 6-1, 6-2; Dara Stichert of Marshfield defeated Lea Beckman, 2-6, 1-6; Rachel Rell of Merrill defeated Jebina Deradas, 6-1, 6-1 and McKensey Koran of Marshfield defeated Sierra Severt, 4-6, 1-6.
Merrill had even less luck in the doubles, with Ashley Schultz & Hanna Gadke of Marshfield defeating Cate Murray & Allison Winter-Reed, 1-6, 2-6; Tylene Dierickx & Alexis Means of Marshfield defeating Olivia Wheat & Sierra Humphrey, 0-6, 0-6 and Kacy Wesolowski & Olivia Devadas of Marshfield defeating Casie McAllister & Anna Skoviera, 3-6, 1-6.
The tennis season is progressing quickly, with three meets and one match left until sectionals. The next meet is scheduled for today (Thursday) at 4:00 p.m. at Stevens Point.
