Merrill man taken into custody following death threats, resisting officers

Early Sunday morning, officers responded to a report of a disorderly male on Cotter Avenue.
According to notes from the dispatcher taking the call, the reporting party indicated 31-year-old Matthew Reiche was intoxicated and had come to the reporting party’s home and threatened to the kill the reporting party and family members.
According to officer notes, upon officer arrival Reiche could be heard yelling he was going to kill somebody. As officers approached, Reiche was observed reportedly standing “nose to nose” with a male party and threatening to kill the male. Reiche was directed by officers to separate from the male party, at which point Reiche reportedly initially complied then stopped and advised officers he wouldn’t move any further.
Due to Reiche’s behavior, he was reportedly asked to turn around and place his hands behind his back, which he reportedly refused. After several failed attempts to obtain compliance from Reiche, an officer advised Reiche a TASER would be utilized.
Reiche reportedly remained non-compliant, at which point a TASER was activated and with the assistance of additional officers, Reiche was taken into custody. Following medical clearance at Ministry Good Samaritan Health Center, Reiche was transported to the Lincoln County Jail on charges of Resisting an Officer and Disorderly Conduct.
