Early figures indicate Bayne-Allison as new DA
Tuesday morning, county polls opened for the 2016 August Primary election, featuring a mix of contested and uncontested local races.
Overall voter numbers on Tuesday appeared a bit low, with just over 10% of Lincoln County registered voters heading to the polls (2,380 of 22,441).
Below are the preliminary results from Tuesday’s primary.
Contested Races
*Lincoln County District Attorney-Galen Bayne-Allison (D) (817) appears to have defeated opponent Sidney Brubacher (D) (526).
*35th Assembly District-Democratic Primary: Renea Frederick of Merrill (589) appears to have defeated fellow Merrill candidates Erik Pfantz (342) and Derek Woellner (337).
Frederick will now face incumbent Mary Czaja (R-Irma) in the November 6 General Election.
Czaja ran unopposed Tuesday, garnering 1,033 votes.
*U.S Senate-Democratic Primary: Russ Feingold (1,112) appears to have defeated Scott Harbach (196). Feingold will now face incumbent Ron Johnson (R) in the November 6 General Election. Johnson stood unopposed Tuesday, garnering 1,012 votes.
*7th Congressional District-Republican Primary: Incumbent Sean Duffy (1,032) appears to have defeated challenger Donald Reihala (105). Duffy will now face Democrat Mary Hoeft for the 7th Congressional seat in the November 6 General Election.
*7th Congressional District-Democratic Primary: Mary Hoeft (851) appears to have defeated Joel Lewis (440). Hoeft will now challenge incumbent Sean Duffy in the November 6 General Election.
