Lawrence Sczygelski

Lawrence Sczygelski, age 81, died on Thursday, June 23, 2016 at the UW Madison Hospital.  He resided in the town of Scott, on the family farm.  Lawrence was born on June 9, 1935 to the late Adam and Anna (Kordus) Sczygelski in the town of Pine River.  He graduated from St. Francis Catholic school.  He was drafted and served in the U.S. Army.  Lawrence met and fell in love with Vivian L. Laak, and the two exchanged vows on November 14, 1964 in Merrill, WI.  She survives.

Lawrence had retired from being a long-time dairy farmer in the town of Scott.  He was dedicated to farming, and instilled a strong work ethic in his children.  Farming was a very important part of his life and was a member of the NFO.  He enjoyed working closely with his family, who meant the world to him.  Lawrence was a family man and he was very proud of all of his children.  He was an honest and smart man.  When he wasn’t busy on the farm, Lawrence enjoyed attending local auctions for farm equipment or tractors.  He would also take time to go deer hunting with his family and friends.  He will be sadly missed.

Lawrence is survived by his wife of almost 52 years: Vivian L. Sczygelski, Merrill, daughters: Carol (James Patrick) Arnold, Johnson Creek, WI and Mary Kay (Randy) Klug, Merrill, sons: Joseph (Sherri) Sczygelski, Merrill and Paul Sczygelski, Merrill, sisters: Esther Ament, Appleton, WI, Geniveve Holemback, Appleton, WI and Rosemary (Robert) Eckardt, Merrill, brother: John (Helen) Sczygelski, Merrill, 8 grandchildren: Donna, Katie, Megan, Connor, Justin, Jordan, Eddie and Elizabeth and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
