Edward J. Klune

Edward J. Klune, 86, of Merrill, passed away Saturday, June 11, 2016 at Bell Tower Residence, Merrill.

Edward was born May 18, 1930, in West Allis, WI, son of the late Joseph and Mary (Horvat) Klune.  He married Susan Pawelkiewicz on February 9, 1957 in Clintonville, WI.  She survives.  Edward enlisted in the United States Army in 1952.  He served stateside and eventually was stationed in Korea.  He was honorably discharged in 1955. In September of 2015, Ed was able to join the Never Forgotten Honor Flight on a visit to Washington D.C.  Ed was a Certified Public Accountant for over fifty years and owned and operated ‘Edward Klune, C.P.A.’

Ed was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Merrill.  Ed was a member of the Knights of Columbus and was also a member of the Lion’s Club since 1963 and served as a past-president.

Ed enjoyed attending the Hodag Country Music Festival for many years and also golfing.  Ed liked camping and traveling across the United States in his motor home.  Ed and his wife, Susan, also vacationed in Florida, Texas and Las Vegas during the winter months.

Survivors include his wife, Susan Klune of Merrill; two daughters, Karen (Doug) Drost and Beth (Darrell) Frick both of Merrill; one son, Michael (Dee Hughes) Klune of McFarland; seven grandchildren, Jennifer (Scott) Peterson, Andrew (Betsy) Kraft, Tanya Frick, Jessica Frick, Allison (Kurt) Krueger, Emily Eng and Alex Eng; four great-grandchildren, Lucas and Isaac Peterson, Calista Kraft and Liam Krueger; and one sister, Delores Thiel of Greenwood, WI. Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Mary Klune; his brother, Joseph R. Klune; and his brother-in-law, Bruce Thiel.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, June 16, 2016 at Holy Cross Chapel at Bell Tower Residence, Merrill.  Father Chris Kemp will preside.  Entombment will take place at Merrill Memorial Park Mausoleum with graveside military rites conducted by V.F.W. Post 1638, Merrill.  The visitation will begin at 11:00 A.M. Thursday at Holy Cross Chapel at Bell Tower Residence.

The Taylor-Stine Funeral Home, Merrill, is assisting the family with arrangements.
