Injured infant leads to felony charges for Tomahawk man
Eric S. Haring, 34 of Tomahawk- was charged May 26 with Felony Child Abuse-Intentionally Causing Great Bodily Harm; Child Abuse-Recklessly causing Great Harm and a misdemeanor charge of Resisting/Obstructing an Officer.
According to court records, Haring was reportedly involved in an incident on Sunday May 22nd in which a 7-month old infant in his care, was found to have a a broken arm. Haring reportedly stated he had accidently dropped the infant, then caught the infant by the arm, while holding another child. However court records indicate a physician’s statement indicating a professional opinion of “injuries to the child are consistent with child abuse rather than an accident” and “a very specific fracture to the arm would take a significant amount of force to cause that type of separation.” During medical evaluation, the child was also found to have a severe spanking injury including bruising from the lower back area to the inner thigh area.
