Oregano exchange leads to felony charges for local teen

Chance M. Kletzine, 17, Merrill, was charged May 13 with Felony charges of Child Abuse-Intentionally Cause Harm and Strangulation and Suffocation. According to court records, Kletzine was reportedly involved in an incident at the Merrill High School on May 12 involving an altercation with a 16-year-old male.

During the altercation, Kletzine was reportedly upset with the male due to purchasing what he thought was marijuana from the male earlier in the week. However according to Kletzine’s statement, he later discovered the substance was actually Oregano. Kletzine indicated he asked for his money back, then grabbed the 16-year-old male by the neck and removed him from the table at which he was seated. The 16-year-old male indicated he had a mouthful of food as he had just started eating.
