Domestic violence incident leads to multiple charges for Merrill man

On the afternoon of Friday May 6th, Merrill officers responded to a reported physical altercation between a male and female near the intersection of Second and Park streets.
According to officer notes, the male subject had departed on foot prior to officer arrival but was located a short time later on VanRensselaer Street.
Upon further investigation, the female victim advised officers the male had bitten her on the back of her neck while wrestling her to the ground. The male also gave officers a name which was found to be false.

Upon being advised he would be taken into custody, the male-later positively identified as 34-year old Charles C. Jones- broke away from officers and fled on foot once again before being neutralized by an officer’s TASER.
Jones was found to have an outstanding felony arrest warrant with the Wisconsin Department of Corrections and was additionally charged with Domestic Violence Related Battery, Resisting an Officer, Obstructing an Officer and Possession of THC.
Jones was later transported to the Lincoln County Jail while the female victim was later transported to Ministry-Good Samaritan Health Center for treatment of the bite wound she sustained.
