While on patrol Wednesday afternoon, an officer attempted to stop a vehicle near the intersection of Pier and Taylor streets. According to officer notes, the vehicle fled instead and led the officer on a pursuit down Taylor Street, lacing through Champagne Street and Grand Avenue before the officer terminated the pursuit.
The vehicle was discovered a short time later by another office near the intersection of Fifth and Liberty streets, at which point another traffic stop was attempted. The driver, identified as 26-year-old Desmond A. Walker, cooperated and was taken into custody on charges of Felony-Fleeing and Eluding an Officer, Operating While Intoxicated as well as two outstanding warrants with the Marathon County Sheriff’s Office.
