Shed destroyed by fire

On Monday night at 9:25 p.m., Lincoln County 911 Communications Center dispatched the Merrill Fire Department for a report of a garage fire at 307 Hope St. Initial response from Merrill Fire Department included Engine 62, Medic 63, and Truck 63. Additional Merrill Fire response included Squad-64, Engine-61. Command from Engine 62 requested Pine River Fire Department and WPS to the scene to disconnect power. Command further requested Tomahawk EMS to standby in Irma. Traffic control was provided by Merrill Police Department.

Upon arrival the shift commander reported that the 15’ x 20’ shed behind the garage was fully involved with fire. Command ordered the first arriving crew to initiate a defense fire attack with two pre-connected hose lines from Engine-62. Fire personnel accessed the entry door to the garage to hit the fire that had spread from the shed to the garage. After the fire was brought under control one of the garage doors was opened to remove the hazardous gases and smoke from the building. A motorcycle with some moderate smoke and heat damage was taken out of the garage. After the fire was extinguished overhaul and salvage operations were conducted.

Interviews were conducted by the Merrill Fire Department and Police Department with the family. No injuries to citizens or on scene personnel were reported. According to Fire Chief Dave Savone, this fire is under investigation at this time.
